"Field to Fork" 2017

It was an exciting and busy summer for the CommonGround Minnesota (CGMN) volunteers. CGMN hosted three farm dinner events and had the opportunity to take part in a fourth dinner event hosted by Minnesota Ag in the Classroom.

The events were a great opportunity to make connections with new friends from across our state, and have conversations about agriculture over delicious food and drinks.

A special thank you to the Liebenstein Family, Brenny Family, and the Anderson Family as well as Minnesota Ag in the Classroom for generously hosting the events.

Wolf Creek Dairy

Bloggers, nutrition professionals, foodies, and more from the Twin Cities metro joined CommonGround Minnesota for a farm dinner event at Wolf Creek Dairy near Dundas, MN on June 20,2017.

It was a beautiful summer evening where guests were treated to a tour of the dairy, spent some time in the milking parlour, and enjoyed some great local foods, Minnesota craft beer and wine.

Brenny Farms

Guests from the Rochester area joined CGMN volunteers for a "picnic in the pasture" at the Brenny Farm located near Mazeppa, MN on August 15, 2017.

Attendees parked their vehicles at the farm and traveled via wagon to a unique hilltop setting overlooking the Brenny's cattle herd and the rolling hills of southeastern Minnesota. The evening ended with a lively Q&A with volunteers from CommonGround Minnesota.

Anderson Farms

CommonGround Minnesota was excited to partner with Twin Cities Moms Blog (TCMB) for a farm dinner event this past fall.

Held at the Anderson Farm located near Welch, MN on September 22, TCMB readers and bloggers had an opportunity to tour the farm, learn how technology has impacted agriculture, and ask questions during the panel Q&A over dessert.

Minnesota Ag in the Classroom

CommonGround Minnesota also had the opportunity to participate in Minnesota Ag in the Classroom's (MAITC) northern teacher tour. The teacher tours allow educators to get a first-hand look into the world of agriculture. Resources, hands-on activities and interactive ideas for integrating agriculture into curriculum are discussed and shared.

The final stop of the MAITC northern teacher tour was at Mistic Berry Farm located near Bemidji, MN. There, teachers were treated to a tour of the strawberry farm, dinner, and more. (Earlier in the tour, teachers visited the LaPorte School Garden and Little Timber Farms, near Blackduck.)

Special thanks to MAITC for their coordination! For more information on Minnesota Ag in the Classroom, please visit: minnesota.agclassroom.org
